Catch-all check
Get a clear answer for addresses on catch-all domains. 5 credits per clear answer; unclear answers are refunded.
A catch-all domain accepts every address, including a made-up one. A regular check can't tell whether your address is real there, so the verdict is Catch-all. The catch-all check is an extra step you can run on those results to get a clear valid or invalid answer.
How it works
- It only runs when you ask. BounceOwl never runs it automatically.
- It is available on results marked Catch-all.
- A clear valid or invalid answer costs 5 credits per address.
- Unclear answers, and checks with no answer within 30 minutes, are refunded.
- If a clear answer for the same address exists from the last 7 days, it is reused for free.
Check one address
- Open a Catch-all result, on the Check page or by clicking its row in History.
- Click Run catch-all check (5 credits) at the bottom of the result card.
- The card shows that the check is running and updates when the answer arrives. The answer usually arrives within a few minutes.
Check several addresses from History
- Open History and click the Catch-all filter.
- Tick the box next to each address you want checked.
- A bar appears with the number selected and the most it can cost. Click Run catch-all check.
The Catch-all check column in History shows Running while the check is in progress, then the answer.
Check every catch-all address in a list
- Open the finished list from Lists.
- If the list has catch-all addresses, a panel shows how many and the most it can cost. Click Run catch-all check.
- The answers appear in the
bo_catchall_checkcolumn when you download the results.
Known catch-all domains
Once a domain is known to be catch-all, the next address there is marked Catch-all for free for 7 days, without a live check. You can still run a catch-all check on that address if you need a firmer answer.
From the API or MCP
Developers can start catch-all checks with POST /v1/catchall. AI assistants connected over MCP can use the catchall_check tool. See the API docs and Connect an AI assistant.
